It’s been a while…

But I’m glad to be back in touch today with a very exciting opportunity for you.

As you may know, for many years now I’ve worked with a company called Agora.

For those who don’t know about Agora – it’s an international publishing business that was built out of the direct mail days of old by a very clever chap called Bill Bonner.

If you don’t know the name Agora or Bill Bonner and you work in direct response copywriting – shame on you.

Still, for those at the back, it will interest you to know that Agora writers have produced many of the most successful long copy sales letters of the past few decades.

Bill himself is a renowned master of the art and he actually created many of the techniques that I see being taught at various copywriting events nowadays (for both direct and indirect copy, I might add).

I’ve been lucky enough to learn my trade with Agora and I can tell you it’s been a pleasure. Using the knowledge and expertise in this company, I’ve written sales letters that have grossed millions of pounds.

And that’s starting from a point where I knew NOTHING about copywriting.

I can safely say it’s changed my life.

But admittedly, this is all just smoke I’m blowing up your ass at the moment. Forgive me. I do this to set the scene for the opportunity I’d like to invite you to consider today.

So, long story short:

How do you fancy writing copy for Agora?

And yes… get paid for it too?

I’m recruiting (kind of)

Here’s the deal…

I already have a very strong team of copywriters who I’ve trained up and a few key freelancers who I trust to do a good job.

But right now, Agora in the UK is in a situation where we’ll be growing… fast.

Naturally, this means I’m going to need more copy and therefore…

More copywriters.

This is where YOU could come in.

Now, I’ll be honest – there’s not specific ‘job’ up for grabs here. Not like you’d see advertised in the press, anyway. I’ve learned in my time that this copywriting lark doesn’t work the way that most jobs do.

It might be that you’re already pretty clued-up and would work best as a freelancer…

Or it might be that you have an innate skill but need to learn the craft – in which case, I might bring you in-house and train you how to do what we do.

It all depends. Indeed, that’s why I’m really only offering this out to UK copywriters, as we’ll need to meet and go for a drink before I decide if you’re someone I can work with.

Actually, on that point three quick tips about working with me:

  • If you want to talk about money before we talk about ideas, this isn’t the right opportunity for you
  • Unless your name is Mike Palmer, you’re not the best copywriter in the world and you still have a lot to learn – be open to having your copy criticised
  • You need to have a creative and cultured mind. If all you do in your spare time is listen to Keane and watch Eastenders, you’re going to struggle in this job

Now, I realise that if I were reviewing this email as a piece of copy, my first comment would be that I’m not really selling the opportunity here. It all sounds a bit weird and random and challenging maybe?

Well, it is.

It’ll be a slog for longer than you might think.

Of course, it could also be life changing. It has been for me.

But the fact is, if you’re the right kind of person for this, then you probably already understand that this is a great opportunity and I don’t need to sell it to you.

If that’s the case, you need to drop me an email saying hi and showing me some of your copy.

I don’t want CVs or anything like that at this point. I just want a piece of copy that demonstrates your ability and an email that explains why you want to write copy for Agora.

You can hit reply to this email or reach me at [email protected]

So, if you think you could write copy for me on a freelance basis, or if you think you might be someone I could turn into a direct response superstar…

Get in touch.

Best,
Glenn
