Health is a huge niche for copywriters…
I know a lot of people reading this already work in it.
I’ve written bits here and there and always find it interesting.
It’s such a personal and emotionally charged area. I can see why it makes such fertile ground for copywriters.
Mind you, it’s an area with its own challenges too.
A lot of the language can be difficult to navigate and there’s fair bit of regulation involved.
It’s one of the reasons I wanted to get Edinburgh-based copywriter Louise Shanahan on the podcast.
She specialises in writing health copy and runs a website called The Copy Prescription.
She’s also a very nice person and I had a lovely time chatting to her.
We talked about why jargon can sometimes be useful in copywriting, what it takes to write copy in the health niche and why you don’t need a six-pack to provide health advice.
