You don’t need me to tell you what’s going on right now sucks.
It sucks big time.
I hope wherever you are reading this you’re OK and so are your family, friends, and colleagues.
Like most, I’ve been staying home with Ruth and Pablo, keeping safe and looking after each other.
It’s been a busy time writing copy for various folks and offering advice where I can.
I’ve also been using the extra time (that I usually spend in the pub, I guess) to work on my next book, which is coming along really nicely. I’m excited about it and enjoying writing it.
But I won’t go into the new book too much yet – we’ll worry about that another time.
Instead, I want to tell you about something else I’ve been working on during lockdown.
Isolated Talks
“Tell me if you think it’s a silly idea,” asked Giles Edwards, the co-founder of marketing agency, Gasp!
I half expected him to pitch me Tiger King, but with Owls.
Or tell me he was thinking of changing his name again, to Giles with a Z.
Instead, he told me about a platform he was thinking of building where people from all over the advertising and marketing world could share their insight from isolation, for people in isolation.
In the process, we could use the platform to generate money for the Samaritans, so in turn, they can help people struggling mentally in isolation.
Yes, I thought. This sounds good. Very good.
And so, I agreed to help out and do what I could to support the project and make it happen.
With help from Tommy Mason and Matt Ballington to design and build the site (rather brilliantly), the site is now live.
There are ‘isolation talks’ on there from the likes of Dave Trott, Vikki Ross, Samuel Scott, Amy Kean, Rob Schwartz, Russell Parsons, Mark Pollard and many more.
It’s been amazing how many people have been up for helping out and spreading the word.
In fact, you can read an interview I gave about it on LBB Online here.
New ‘isolation talks’ are coming in thick and fast and we want to try and raise as much money as possible.
So every penny, every like, every share or comment will help make a difference.
You can visit the website here:
And then please share the ‘beep’ out of it.
It’s really nice to be able to write copy for projects like this, but I can tell you it’ll be even nicer if we’re able to raise a decent amount.
So please do donate if you’re able.
P.S. Did I say donate? Yes, I did. Donate. It would be bloody lovely if you’re able.
