I received a nice message from copywriter Stephen Marsh this week, which sums up exactly what the aim of The UK Copy Call is.
He wrote:
“Just a quick note to say: I don’t usually go in for most of the ‘people talking about being copywriters’ stuff that seems to be out there right now, but UK copy call 25 was great. A decent chit-chat about copy without the thinly veiled ‘Don’t write another word until you invest £2,500 in our course’ getting in the way Look forward to the archive!”
Of all the positive feedback I received after last week’s call, I pick this out for two reasons:
First, because it speaks to the idea that you don’t get something good for free in this business.
I understand that – you don’t.
And let me be honest:
Though it’s free to listen to these calls, please be clear that my intention is to get a return…
Eventually, at least.
Thing is:
My intentions are aligned with yours.
You see the whole reason I do The UK Copy Call call is to educate writers, marketers and entrepreneurs like yourself on how direct response copywriting works, so that I might one day be able to hire you to work for Agora Financial.
So, as Stephen points out: you’ll never get me saying don’t write another word until you’ve bought my course or anything like that.
Don’t get me wrong; if you want to buy my guides and books (I don’t have a course – yet), I’m not stopping you…
But it’s not what The UK Copy Call is for.
This resource is there to genuinely help you develop a better understanding of direct response.
Simple as that.
The second thing Stephen’s message speaks to is the idea of copywriters just talking about being copywriters.
I understand this worry too. I listen to a lot of stuff where it turns out to be some weird ‘love-in’ where people pat each other on the back and lament for hours about bad spelling or the woes of receiving a bad brief.
Not helpful, in my opinion.
And again, this is not what The UK Copy Call is about.
Though I do personally find it interesting to understand why people write, the aim of this call is to give you practical takeaways that you can apply in your own work.
Again, the intention is for you to be able to up your game, thanks to the stuff the experts share, in the hope you’ll eventually come to use said ‘upped game’ in writing for Agora Financial.
Indeed, if you’re already interested in writing for Agora Financial or you would like to find out more about training with me in person, you can find out more here.
I’m in the process of setting up a 14 week ‘UK Copy Camp’ that will run early next year – most likely starting in March. You’ll essentially get paid to train with me, which isn’t bad.
Now is the time to start thinking about applying. Just email me for more details.
However, if you’re just looking for some additional copywriting insight right now...
